Intime Fremde

(2015) 

Our first creation, INTIME FREMDE, was nominated by the Italian Theatre Magazine Krapp's Last Post among the best 10 pieces of 2017.
The piece won Crash Test Award 2017. This is the jury's motivation:

"For being able to touch the uncovered nerves of the social cohabitation of our dark present, questioning this way the role of theatre nowadays, the jury, not without an animated and nevertheless passionate discussion, reward the piece that more than any other is willing to intercept the language of a possible future: Intime Fremde form Welcome Project."

INTIME FREMDE is dedicated to a reflection on the idea of border, identity, the concept of nation, and country of origin, to the encounter/collision of different anatomies such as the physical, cultural, and emotional ones. Europe got us used to travel low cost and feeling at home in all the countries of the Union. Nevertheless, the old continent is scared and closes its own borders: the Mediterranean Sea seems to be made of barbed wire. And yet, what does it mean to be European today? Borders exist, hidden everywhere: while we do our shopping, when we look at each other when we almost touch or avoid our neighbour; they are hidden in my miniskirt, in the covered face of your fellow citizen, in the smells we find in the stairwell while coming back in our “nest”. And what is behind the door, behind the line is, since ever, frightful. If it is true that we’re all biologically similar, it is also true we are all culturally diverse, and with different rights.
